There is a large gap in Africa between those who have access to the Internet and those who do not, with COVID-19 exacerbating the issue. Young people are currently at a particular risk with reduced prospects of work and income. Digitalisation could be a game-changer, getting young people in Africa close to real economic inclusion. The Advisory Council on International Affairs (AIV) advised the Dutch government on how to make it happen. But what do young people in Africa think?
In October 2020, RNW Media partnered with AIV to organise a series of webinars that would serve as 'Road-to' sessions leading to the Youth at Heart Forum. For the session "Can digitalisation lead to better jobs for youth in Africa? Let's ask the next generation!", I was tasked with creating an introduction animation to contextualise and set up the stage for the talkers and guests of the event.
